Here is a head scratcher for Twitter.. this strip is where a cross rib stone roller went across a decent crop of vetch in 2018. Wheat last year and barley this year. Both crops a lot thicker on the strip. Overcoming non wetting sand both years. (1/2)

Would we damage tyres running them like this? Pulling a 6.5m deep ripper so traction needed but would hate to split a tyre.

Murlong seeder-based mitigation trial 2019. Best treatment: On-row sowing with paired-row plus seed zone wetter x4.1 increase over control. Wetter effect maximised with low in-furrow moisture (eg on the inter-row or with shallow-till knife point) #grdcsandysoils #SA_PIRSA #EPARF
