Huge props to Chris Ly, @iveletic and the whole team after a ton of trial-and-error, to perform high-throughput spatial CyTof and Lunaphore on bone marrow samples in AML. Just the beginning of this proof-of-concept work. nature.com/articles/s41698-0…

➡️ Excited to share the phase 1b/2 clin trial of Aza-Ven-Magro in ND high-risk & R/R AML from @MDAndersonNews led by @Daver_Leukemia, just out in @CCR_AACR ✅ Interesting correlative analysis by @HusseinAbbasLab interrogating mech of Magro resistance in TP53-mut AML ✅Despite neg results from Ph3 ENHANCE trials, this is possibly the first data evaluating mech of resistance to AVM in AML 🏁⏩can help tune anti-CD47 approaches in the future aacrjournals.org/clincancerr…

Over the past year, I've grown special interest in caring for patients with #SystemicMastocytosis and transformed my clinic to almost exclusively seeing SM patients. Research focus also transforming. Common theme is that these patients spend years frustrated before they are correctly diagnosed. Hoping to make a difference in this disease entity over time. @MCDiseasesUnite @MDAndersonNews

Stem cell-like states confer poor outcomes in blood cancer—but what mechanisms drive this and how can they be therapeutically targeted? In our new preprint, we show how a single TF represses one enhancer to maintain a subset of high-risk leukemias: 🧵👇 biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

DOD grant on TP53 AML was awarded!! Back to my graduate school roots. Important to realize that i had 7 unfunded DOD applications over past 3 years that preceded this successful one. Learnt a lot from reviewers’ comments. #KeepItReal #LeukemiaResearch @MDAndersonNews

Poster sessions at @AACR are great opportunities to identify potential collaborators and have direct FaceTime with researchers to exchange ideas and contacts. Something I appreciate more and more with every annual meeting.

Great time at @AACR Annual meeting. Plenary talks by Aviv Regev and Jakob Kather yesterday had deep insights into application of AI/DL/LLM in patient care.

As a 1st-year med-onc fellow in 2020, I received the Ladies Leukemia League (LLL) grant. Despite its modest sum (~$30K), it was pivotal for my research and securing further funding. Fast forward to 2024, LLL once again believed in a new idea of mine, uniquely funding it.

This underscores the significant impact of smaller grants by $, especially for *junior faculty*, that can have impact for new ideas. Deep gratitude to LLL for their dedication to leukemia research and their faith in our work in the South over the decades. @MDAndersonNews
