The Grand Chief of Kahnawà:ke Ohén:ton Í:iente ne Ratitsénhaienhs Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer, Chief Executive Officer Michael Sabia, and the Minister responsible for Relations with First Nations and Inuit, Ian Lafrenière, today signed the partnership agreements between Hydro-Québec and the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke regarding the future Hertel-New York interconnection. Under the agreement, the Hertel-New York line, between the converter station at La Prairie and the New York border, will become the property of a company co-owned by Kahnawà:ke and Hydro-Québec, providing the community with various economic benefits for a period of 40 years.
