ALT The Michigan State University Board of Trustees is the eight-member governing body responsible for the general supervision, financial management, and strategic direction of the university. Members are publicly elected by Michigan voters in statewide elections to serve staggered eight-year terms. The board is solely responsible for appointing and electing the President of Michigan State University. The Board of Trustees meet six times per year to fulfill its legal duties under the Michigan Constitution, and to formally debate and vote on critical financial matters, including approving the university's multi-billion dollar annual operating budget.
