We're at the MA State House with @IAM264Boston and @CPAJustice and Uber and Lyft drivers demanding lawmakers grant them the freedom to unionize and collectively bargain over their wages, benefits, and working conditions #MADriversInTheHouse#DriversDemandJustice
Andrew Greenblatt of @MachinistsUnion and Katchen Locke of @32BJSEIU explain how the Rideshare Driver Justice Bill ensures, among other things, “you are paid for ALL your time in the car,” not just when you have a ride.
Mike Vartabedian of @IAM264Boston nails it: "This is one of the biggest driver-led coalitions in the country, and together we’re going to win this fight.” 💪🚘
Congratulations to @carmensunion589 on their new contract with the @MBTA. The investments provided by @MassGovernor & her administration will help to attract & retain the skilled workers that are needed to bring the T back to what the riders deserve. #1u
Happy 135th birthday to the #FightingMachinists!!
The @MachinistsUnion was founded in 1888 by 19 railroad machinists who secretly met in a locomotive pit in Atlanta to improve their lives. Now we are over 600,000 members strong. Here’s to the next 135!! 🎂🔧 #1u
March is Women's History month, and we're looking back on the impressive wins for equality made by women — in our union, in the labor movement, and in our country.
With pride, we're looking to the future and thanking the women before us for showing us the way. #WomensHistoryMonth
The Rideshare Drivers’ Justice Bill (SD 1162, HD 2071) would also establish minimum standards around wages, paid sick leave, paid family and medical leave, workers’ compensation and unemployment insurance.
This bill will create the framework so that drivers can chose their union to bargain at the table for better compensation, better benefits, job security and protections against unfair treatment that only a union can provide.
Companies are getting away with failing to keep drivers safe, with failing to give drivers benefits, with unfair deactivation processes that can rip away livelihoods with the touch of a button. Through a union, all this can change!
DYK: Drivers like Lisbeth are standing up to greedy rideshare companies and working with 32BJ, @IAM264Boston and @cpajustice to pass the Rideshare Justice Bill, a groundbreaking new law in MA to give drivers a voice at work.
Rideshare drivers are consistently left with no recourse when they speak out against unfair treatment from their employers and demand better. Right now, companies are getting away with paying drivers less and less while they take more from drivers and passengers.
‼️‼️RIDESHARE DRIVER CARAVAN HAPPENING NOW! 🚘📣
Rideshare drivers are in Lynn, MA with 32BJ @cpajustice and @IAM264Boston ready to fight for better working conditions!
