Today is World IBD Day — a day to raise awareness for the millions of people living with Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis.
Far too many patients suffer in silence while managing the daily challenges of this invisible disease. You likely know someone affected by IBD, as the rates continue to rise, with approximately 1 in 140 Canadians living with Crohn’s disease or Ulcerative Colitis.
I am incredibly proud to be part of the amazing team at the University of Calgary’s Inflammatory Bowel Disease Unit. Every single day, this team works tirelessly to improve the lives of patients living with IBD. Their compassion, dedication, and commitment to patient care never stops.
This year, my mission is to help fundraise for a new intestinal ultrasound machine. This technology is transforming how we diagnose, monitor, and manage IBD by allowing physicians to assess disease activity quickly and non-invasively at the bedside. It is truly a game-changer for patient care.
Our center is recognized as one of the world leaders in intestinal ultrasound, but we cannot do it alone. Every contribution makes a difference. If you are able, please consider donating — even $5 can help us move closer to improving care for patients living with IBD.
Together, we can make a difference. 📷
