Desde el reconocimiento del Estado de Palestina hasta la denegación del uso de bases militares en la guerra de Irán, el Gobierno español ha hecho una apuesta decidida, con sus beneficios y riesgos.
✍️ Eduard Soler (@solerlecha), profesor en la @UABBarcelona, el @IBEI y miembro de nuestro Consejo Académico, desglosa las claves estructurales de una posición que sitúa a España en el centro del tablero geopolítico global:
🔹 La denegación del uso de Rota, Morón y el espacio aéreo ante la ofensiva contra Irán marca un hito de autonomía frente a Washington, que ha sido secundado por otros socios de la OTAN.
🔹 Esta decisión entronca con la tradición diplomática española y el precedente de la crisis de 1973.
🔹 Exigir que se aplique el mismo rasero en Ucrania y en Oriente Medio consolida la imagen de España para mucha gente. Es hoy el país europeo mejor valorado en el mundo árabe.

💬 A central challenge in development finance today is 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝘅𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲.
Demand for investment continues to grow while public resources remain constrained. This is why discussions about financial architecture matter more than ever.
Multilateral development banks bring together 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵, 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲. Their 𝗔𝗔𝗔 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 allow them to raise funding efficiently in global capital markets, creating opportunities not only to provide financing, but also to mobilize resources and crowd in investment at scale.
A key opportunity lies in 𝗺𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 and expanding the impact of every dollar available.
Doing so requires rethinking how 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿, how risks are allocated, and how financial instruments can help unlock investment at scale.
This is where MDBs have a unique role to play. Their value goes beyond providing financing. They can help bring together public institutions, private investors, and development priorities in ways that expand impact and unlock additional investment.

📌 El 28 de mayo de 2026 se realizó en el Instituto de Estudios Internacionales (IEI) de la Universidad de Chile una sesión del Seminario Permanente de Investigación.
En esta oportunidad, Natalia Escoffier y Alice Blukacz presentaron sus proyectos de tesis doctoral. Ambas se encuentran en el IEI realizando una estadía de investigación en el marco de sus estudios de doctorado que son financiados por la red "Understanding Latin American Challenges in the 21st Century". Esta @LACEUNetwork es una new Horizon Europe-Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action, y apoya la realización de estudios doctorales a 12 estudiantes de diversas partes del mundo. Es liderada por el Institut Barcelona d´Estudis Internacionals (@IBEI), y de la cual el IEI forma parte.
Natalia Escoffier presentó su proyecto "Negociando la agenda de cuidados entre la CELAC y la UE: actores, gobernanza y dinámicas de género hacia el Pacto Birregional por los Cuidados". Por su parte, Alice Buklacz expuso su trabajo “Gobernanza migratoria en América Latina: políticas de salud migrante en Argentina y Chile”.
