Pray for the Holy Father as he begins his apostolic pilgrimage to Africa today, that he may proclaim the Gospel as he has been doing, boldly and without fear.

As violence escalates and lives are lost, many of us feel grief, fear, and helplessness. At such moments, our Catholic faith does not look away from suffering — it invites us to remain rooted in a deeper peace.
Our #Catholic social tradition insists that peace is not passive. It is courageous. It is built through justice, dialogue, and solidarity with those who suffer most.
We grieve the killing of a protester Alex Pretti, in Minnesota and stand with all who are mourning, outraged, and afraid. Violence carried out by the state is a grave injustice and a violation of human dignity.
In this moment, we are called to bear public witness as people of faith. Our Catholic tradition demands that we raise our voices, refuse silence, and proclaim the sacred worth of every human life.
Love compels us not only to grieve, but to speak, to show up, and to resist systems that rely on fear and force. Together, we commit to building beloved community through courageous, faithful witness rooted in justice and love.

Pope Leo XIV expresses his concern over recent developments in Venezuela, after United States forces arrested Nicolás Maduro in Caracas on Saturday and brought him to New York for trial.
The Pope calls for the good of the Venezuelan people to prevail, for the rule of law to be upheld, and for the human and civil rights of all to be respected.
ISN's Education for Justice team was making things happen today, putting together a prayer related to the situation in Venezuela and rooted in Pope Leo's (@Pontifex) call for peace and solidarity during his Sunday Angelus blessing in Rome. You can find the prayer on the EFJ site here: igsol.net/vz-prayer.
EFJ memberships start at $89/year and provide users with 12 months of access to over 2,500 Catholic social teaching resources for classrooms, parishes, and other settings.

It is with deep concern that I am following the developments in Venezuela. The good of the beloved Venezuelan people must prevail over every other consideration. This must lead to the overcoming of violence, and to the pursuit of paths of justice and peace. I pray for all this, and I invite you to pray too, entrusting our prayer to the intercession of Our Lady of Coromoto, and to Saints José Gregorio Hernández and Carmen Rendiles. #PrayTogether
