ALT Text bio: Nathalie Egalité is the inaugural John P. Murphy Postdoctoral Fellow in Medical Humanities at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. Building on her experience teaching humanities, ethics, and professionalism to medical students, she develops medical education curricula and programs. Nathalie holds a PhD in Medical Humanities from the University of Texas Medical Branch, receiving at graduation the Excellence in Research and Scholarship Award. She earned her Hon. BA with distinction in Bioethics from the University of Toronto and her MA in Bioethics from the University of Montreal. She completed a Junior Ethics Fellowship at the World Health Organization in Geneva. Her doctoral project examined moral challenges arising from physicians writing and publishing literary texts about patient care. Nathalie will pursue this line of research at Cleveland Clinic, along with investigating how medical students acquire abilities in moral reasoning.
ALT Bio text: Lukas Meier is Junior Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge with main interests in medical ethics, neurophilosophy, and artificial intelligence. He studied philosophy at the University of Oxford and political science at the University of Göttingen. As part of a team developing an algorithm for ethical decision-making in the clinic, Lukas also spent a year at the Technical University of Munich. His doctoral thesis, completed at the Universities of St Andrews and Heidelberg, linked the topic of brain death to the debate on personal identity. ALT Bio text: Emily Postan is a Chancellor’s Fellow in Bioethics at the University of Edinburgh Law School and a Deputy Director of the J Kenyon Mason Institute for Medicine Life Sciences and the Law. She has a background in philosophy and policy-making, and received her PhD from Edinburgh Law School in 2017. Emily’s research principally focuses on the ethical implications of ways that health technologies and health data affect our identities and relationships to others. Her wider research interest include work in neuroethics, ethical challenges raised by assisted reproduction, genome editing, and governance of health data. ALT Bio text: Dr. Agomoni Ganguli-Mitra is Senior Lecturer in Bioethics and Global Health Ethics, and Deputy-director of the JK Mason Institute for Medicine, Life Sciences and the Law Dr. Ganguli-Mitra’s background is in bioethics, with a special interest in global bioethics, structural and gender justice. She has written on ethical issues related to global health emergencies, public health, global surrogacy, sex-selection, biomedical research, racism in health and the concepts of exploitation vulnerability and power in bioethics.
ALT Bio text: Professor Anne-Maree Farrell is Chair of Medical Jurisprudence at Edinburgh Law School. She is the first woman to hold the Chair, which was first established over 210 years ago. Professor Farrell is also Director of the Mason Institute, which is an interdisciplinary research centre based at Edinburgh Law School. It focuses on ethics and law at the interface between health, medicine and the life sciences at a national and global scale. Professor Farrell's research expertise lies generally in health law and bioethics. She is particularly interested in the relationship between politics, law and regulation in health and medicine.
ALT Text bio: Dr Giulia Cavaliere is a Lecturer in Ethics at the Dickson Poon School of Law, where she teaches moral philosophy to undergraduate students and a range of applied ethics modules to postgraduate students. Prior to joining King’s, Giulia was a lecturer at Lancaster University. Giuli received her PhD from King’s College London in 2019. Her doctoral research focused on novel reproductive technologies, and it was supported by a grant from the Wellcome Trust. Currently, Giulia’s research is on infertility, procreative justice and parental preferences, such as the preference to have genetically related children. She is particularly interested in whether people who cannot have children have justified claims of assistance towards the state.

Patricia serves on the board of the Global Health Bioethics Network, the management team of the Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities and Oxford-Johns Hopkins Global Infectious Disease Ethics Collaborative (GLIDE). Patricia has served on several influential committees such as: the White House Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment in Africa Initiative initiated by President Obama’s administration, the Nuffield Council of Bioethics, Medecins San Frontiers, the World Health Organization, and Save the Children. She is also an advisor of the UK government’s SAGE committee on matters relating to Covid-19.
