IMLU, in its continued efforts to promote access to justice and uphold the spirit of Article 49 of the Constitution, supported 68 persons arrested during yesterday’s protests against the increase in fuel prices. Through the Litigation Department, and in collaboration with the Law Society of Kenya, IMLU facilitated the processing of bail for the arrested persons.
Some of the charges preferred against the accused persons include obstructing the operation of vehicles on a road contrary to Section 58(C) of the Roads Act, Chapter 408 Laws of Kenya, and sabotage contrary to Section 343 of the Penal Code.
