While I agree that taxing our way out of our problems is not the answer, I don’t think that we have a flawless system.
The US has 1 trillionaire and 988 billionaires. Their combined net worth is about 8.4 trillion dollars. If we would just tax these people “fairly,” it would totally solve the $40 trillion national debt. And every other problem in society. Do the math, guys…

I think the free market is generally the best way to conduct an economy, but it’s undeniable that if we have no guardrails, it will consume and destroy things we all believe are sacred. For example, I think most people would agree that destroying our national parks is not worth any amount of money. And the free market can exist even if there is a complete ban on mining or extracting resources from the national parks. Those resources being kept away from all market participants equally still maintains the tenets of the free market. Corporations have somehow gotten many people to believe this is a limitation on the free market, I.e. socialism. It is not. If we restrict corporations from harvesting organs by murdering children, this would be an extreme example of the same thing. Equal restrictions are cohesive with the free market.

We could all use the internet to connect and understand other people, but instead we choose to use it to isolate ourselves and critique each other

If you had to run and staff a restaurant that could prepare a fresh breakfast and lunch for 1500 people per day, 185 days per year, how much do you think the annual budget would be? On the level of a Bob Evans quality of meal, but buffet style. To feed every kid in a high school with a cost of $5 per meal, it would be less $3M annually, less than $2000 per kid. It seems crazy to me that we don’t provide services like this to students. What would be better for the health of the country than introducing kids to a variety of healthy meals throughout their lives? You’d save 50x in long term healthcare costs if you train kids how to eat properly.

I consistently feel like I have to push my kids to bend the rules once in a while; totally different than my childhood.
84% of 11-year-olds aren't allowed to leave their street. 53% can't leave their front yard. 92% of 14-year-olds can't leave their neighborhood. We built a culture obsessed with safety. The result? A generation that's measurably more anxious: stevemagness.substack.com/p/…

Democrats be like; Eat the rich AND SIMULTANEOUSLY Look how rich we are!
The urban core generates almost all of a typical U.S. city's tax revenue but most of it goes to fund roads, sewer lines, power lines et al in suburbs. If suburbs paid for themselves, rather than leaching off the city, I think a lot more people would be live and let live on this.

Mario Nawfal is becoming a propagandist for China, now Elon. Elon is a master at accessing public money. Money for Mars, now money for his public transportation option and/or his solar arrays.

We need to limit the ability of corporations who receive any form of government money from hoarding assets. If the Fed is buying your stock, you get subsidies from federal entities, your employees qualify for food stamps?? You’re cut off from operating in the free market. You made the decision to not play fairly

If the rich suburbanites tend to be democrats and they all want free health care, why aren’t doctors and nurses working pro-bono at least some of the time? Maybe they can each put in a shift a month at a free clinic?

I can’t even imagine a more racist way of thinking.
This attitude is far too common & misses the point. If a state w/10 districts is ~33% Black than Black voters should chose reps in three districts. Anything less is undemocratic. That states with the largest Black populations are working against this is racist & authoritarian.
