Thank you, Journal Gazette Editorial Board, for calling on Congress to make health care affordable. The current coverage losses are alarming, and likely to worsen as the year goes on.

Our Hoosier oral healthcare crew was small but mighty last week in DC! CareQuest OPEN Hill Day was a great place to connect with others across the nation who are also concerned about oral healthcare affordability. #Hoosiers#OralHealthIsHealth
A random fact #TeamInstitute learned while in D.C.:
Did you know that the U.S. Capitol has carvings of corn?? 🌽
Neither did we, so we thought we would share with fellow Hoosiers! #Corn#Hoosier
Our Hoosier oral healthcare crew had a successful time on the hill! We are grateful to all the staffers and legislators who took time to speak with us on the importance of oral healthcare access and affordability for Hoosiers. #OralHealthIsHealthcare#Hoosiers
“There’s no way I could have paid that.”
Three #TeamInstitute members are sounding the alarm about our broken health care system in the Capitol Chronicle. We should all be able to afford the care we need to be healthy and we need policymakers to act.

Today, Lauren and Lindsay are at the Capitol advocating to ensure that every Hoosier can take care of their health without landing in crippling #medicaldebt. #TeamInstitute
👀 Look at these consumer advocates asking for a 36% maximum APR, to call Earned Wage Access what it is - a payday loan app - and fund the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. #ProtectConsumers#CAD2026
Why the smile? Tonight, I’m having dinner w/ #consumeradvocates from across the country.
Consumer advocates can calculate APRs, will cross swords with well-funded lobbyists, & fight fiercely to protect people who struggle with rising costs.
Tomorrow, we head to the Capitol.
Policy Fellow Rebecca had a creative idea on how to spark policy conversations:
“I created “policy rocks’ & placed them near D.C. landmarks w/ messages & artwork, & on the back “Post Me: #PolicyRocksDC26.” I hope people feel inspired to learn more about #paidleave policies!”
😀 We love hearing back from the people who participate in our research interviews and other studies. Did you know that our team at the Institute regularly engages with Hoosiers all across the state through surveys, interviews, and focus groups?
This week, Olivia and Rebecca are attending a #paidleave convening in Washington, D.C. where Olivia served on “The Road Ahead: Next Wins Discussion” Panel. All across this country, we all want to see more wins on #paidleave in the years ahead!
Thanks to Zoe Reed and Indiana Daily Student for explaining the recent changes to SNAP and what we're hearing from Hoosiers in our focus groups.

The Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana provides important context around eviction processes in Marion County in their new report (fhcci.org/reports/) for instance "forum shopping" that landlords in Marion County do to avoid certain township courts when filing evictions.
☹️ Are you disappointed? We sure are.
‼️ Today, state legislators gathered to announce the selected topics for interim study, but left critical issues off the list.
➡️ You can - and should - ask policymakers what they intend to do about these issues.
We want to thank Governor Braun for this expansion of parental leave for state employees to include foster placements, and also to reiterate that ALL Hoosiers deserve the ability to care for their families when it matters most.
