Oil prices rallied sharply on June 10 after US forces struck Iranian air defenses, ground control stations and radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for the downing of an American Apache helicopter. Brent crude climbed to US$94.32 and WTI reached US$91.46, erasing the previous session's losses. The strikes come just days after Trump suggested a deal to reopen the strait was imminent. JPMorgan estimates up to 2 million barrels per day are now moving covertly through the region on tankers without transponders. Read more: investingnews.com/oil-prices…

Russia's natural resources minister announced this week that the country's gold output may have reached 485 metric tons in 2025, reinforcing its claim as the world's second largest gold producer. Independent data from Metals Focus tells a different story, placing Russian mine output at 345 metric tons for the same period, nearly 29 percent below official figures. Analysts attribute part of the discrepancy to Russia counting refined output from imported ores alongside domestic mine production. With Western sanctions narrowing Russia's access to global financial markets, gold has taken on growing strategic importance for the country's reserve management and government finances. Bitcoin is down 4.9%. Ether is down 10.2%. Solana is down 7.3%. The broad-based selloff this week wasn't a single-asset story, it was the whole market moving together. Strategy is sitting on an US$11.2 billion unrealized loss and just broke its four-year "never sell" streak to cover dividend payments. And Congress is moving to extend its stock trading ban to crypto prediction markets. Price is down. Infrastructure buildout is accelerating. The divergence between the two is the most important thing happening in crypto right now. Read the full update: investingnews.com/cryptocurr…
