Indiana Task Force 1 was activated overnight as a FEMA Type 3 Urban Search and Rescue Team following the tornado that struck Lake Village in Newton County. 43 personnel left this morning and arrived in Lake Village. Crews are conducting search operations. @IDHS

As Kentucky transitions from rescue to stabilization, Indiana FEMA US&R Task Force 1 has been officially demobilized from the Eastern Kentucky floods. The Team arrived in eastern Kentucky today. They are currently engaged in assisting Pike and Martin Counties. This region of the state is dealing with historic flooding. Temperatures are in the low 30’s with snow flurries.

After a lengthy deployment that began on September 24th, Indiana Task Force 1 is officially demobilized from its mission in response to Hurricanes Milton and Helene. Over the past weeks, our team has traveled to Florida, North Carolina, and back to Florida, tirelessly assisting communities impacted by back-to-back hurricanes. Work continues for Task Force 1 in North Carolina. The team is meticulously searching long debris fields where flood waters raged through the community following #Helene. A multitude of teams from Local, State, and Federal agencies from across the US are engaged in operations.

Additional IN-TF1 personnel deploying with the Hazmat Equipment Push Pacakage (HEPP) to Asheville, N.C. This group will bring additional personal protective equipment and decon capabilities to the search and rescue operations. #helene

Task Force 1 has worked the past two days addressing the severe devastation in western North Carolina. The team is navigating challenging and uneven rural terrain to assist local and state agencies in ensuring the safety and whereabouts of the community members in this Appalachian region. #Helene

Task Force 1 started operations yesterday in Marion, North Carolina located 1 hour east of Ashville, North Carolina. Today the team will continue search operations working to account for residents and assist with evacuations as needed. #helene

Indiana Task Force 1 has received orders to deploy north into western North Carolina in response to the evolving situation caused by Hurricane / Tropical Storm #Helene. The region has experienced significant impacts from the storm, including heavy rainfall, flooding, and wind damage, creating dangerous conditions for local communities. Task Force 1’s mission is to provide search and rescue support and assist in evacuations. The team will work closely with Local, State, and Federal assets to assess these hardest-hit regions.

Good morning. The team was up and moving early this morning. They have been assigned to work in Treasure Island today. Treasure Island is a small barrier island off the coast of St. Petersburg that sustained widespread damage. #Helene

This morning, Task Force 1 transitioned from Suwannee County, Florida, to Lafayette County, Florida, conducting primary and secondary searches of affected areas around Mayo, Florida. The team has settled in for the night and is expected to move on to a new assignment in the morning. #Helene

Its has been all hands on deck this morning as the team moves through #Helenes path! Larger equipment and chainsaws have carved a path to keep the team moving to those in need of assistance.
