In recognition of Tourette Awareness Month, we're excited to partner with the University of Minnesota Tic and Compulsivity (MnTiC) Lab to share insights on tics, OCD, and how families can provide meaningful support. While tics and compulsions can sometimes look similar, understanding the differences can help children get the support and care they need. Swipe through to learn more about how these symptoms differ, why treatment approaches aren't always the same, and practical ways parents can help. "What if I'm a bad person?" For people experiencing moral OCD, intrusive thoughts can create intense doubt, guilt, and fear around their values, ethics, and character. The result is often a relentless search for certainty about being "good enough" or having done the "right" thing. We're grateful to see moral OCD highlighted in a recent HuffPost article by Jillian Wilson, featuring expert insight from IOCDF Chief Medical Officer Dr. Patrick McGrath. As Dr. McGrath explains, OCD often targets what matters most to us. In moral OCD, that can mean becoming trapped in cycles of questioning your intentions, decisions, and identity as a person. Thank you to HuffPost for helping raise awareness and increase understanding of what OCD can really look like! Read the full article 👉 bit.ly/4o90fsq

“It was awesome.” 💚 International advocate and board member at IOCDF Global Partner TOC Zaragoza, Yann Lana, recently spoke at the University of Zaragoza about OCD and shared his lived experience with students in the university’s psychology master’s program. We’re grateful for advocates around the world who continue to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and help future mental health professionals better understand OCD through both education and lived experience.
