Invasive shothole borers (ISHB) are small, non-native, beetles that bore into trees and introduce fungi, resulting in damage or death of thousands of CA trees.
The ISHB Online Course has been accredited by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (1.0 hour Other) and the Western Chapter International Society of Arboriculture (1.0 CEU TW, CA, MS, and BCMA-S) for 2026 and is now available again at campus.extension.org/course/….

UC ANR advisors Drs. Beatriz Nobua-Behrmann and Chris Shogren led a workshop on Goldspotted Oak Borer and other oak pests and diseases for tree professionals from the Disneyland Resort and various partner organizations at Anaheim’s Oak Canyon Nature Center.
Invasive Species captured lots of attention at International Sportsmen's Expo in Sacramento. At the California Firewood Task Force booth, reps of CDFA, CAL FIRE, UC ANR and UC Davis shared info on invasive tree pests. Other agencies addressed invasives such as golden mussels.
