New ITC study @TC_BMJ: why do those who smoke also vape in Korea? From 2016 to 2020, goal-oriented reasons decreased (to quit smoking: 49%—>36%, to cut back: 53%—>35%), but NON goal-oriented reasons increased (curiosity:28%—>63%; enjoyment:9%‚>27%). tinyurl.com/5c8yjyj2

Our findings were based on the evaluation of Canada’s menthol cigarette ban, which led a 7.3% greater quit rate among those who smoke menthols, compared to those who smoke non-menthols (a great comparison group). tobaccocontrol.bmj.com/conte…

The new coalition govt in #Aotearoa #NewZealand plans to repeal the smokefree law, including reducing nicotine in cigarettes to make them non-addictive. HUGE projected declines in smoking in NZ will be forsaken (tinyurl.com/2frnamxe) so that the govt can cut taxes (seriously!)
