FYI @meenamtj. I'm a bit surprised London Zoo had dormice. Thirty bob was a lot of money in 1939. That's about £60 today. Perhaps that was annual penguin sponsorship.
London Zoo asks public to "adopt" animals, promising to pay for their upkeep should war with Germany break out. Prices vary: sixpence/week for dormice, 30 shillings for a penguin.

Just spent a most enjoyable hour watching a play about Samuel Beckett (ex-DUCC and Pembroke) and Harold Pinter (ex-Limerick Unknowns CC) watching a cricket match. Only a few days left to run in Bewley's Café, Grafton Street, highly recommended. @BewleysCTheatre

True, I am disappointed by the continuing criticism. But the bigger picture is the harm these attack marketing strategies - often carried out by companies coming into the charity sector from the commercial sector - potentially have on all fundraising.
⚪️@IanMacQuillin is disappointed that attacks on 'chuggers' are accompanying an uptick in face-to-face fundraising Read his column: bit.ly/3lvDfr3 🔊 You can also hear Ian on the podcast speaking about the ethics around giving back donations: bit.ly/3RXraHu

New office is finally taking shape. With Australian #highereducation #fundraising continuing to mature, it’s important to reaffirm why our roles exist and why our work is important to the institutions we serve. Thanks for the words @RogareFTT & @IanMacQuillin

Can anyone help me crowd source the punchline.

Hi @FundInstituteAu - can you tell me in which year you were formed please? And if possible can you point me towards a reference for your formation. Thanks

Hi @Ashley_Norris. Hope all's well. Can I ask a favour? Can you recommend a retro-style music centre with turntable, preferably about £250-300, to complement all the other mid-century furniture in the room. Good quality sound, but audiophile standard not needed. Ta - Ian

Auna are most stylish but don't know if sound quality is any good.
Thinking about this again, a voice at the back of my head tells me it might have been focus groups run by @JohnGrain, probably c2006? Can you shed any light, John?
I’ve heard that people have compared asks in DRTV ads e.g. ‘you can give to XYZ charity for just £2 a month so why pay £5 a month to ABC charity’. Though I can’t recall where I head this and it was some time ago. So best treat this with a pinch of salt. Can anyone back this up?
Forgot to share this a couple of weeks back. Thanks for to @charity_podcast for letting me talk about some of my favourite topics - ethics, regulation, the professionalisation of fundraising and why my wife @SarahMacQuillin is a great fundraiser.
Don't miss this week's podcast with Ian MacQuillin, which includes the questions fundraisers should be asking themselves 🎙️ #fundraisingtwitter charitychat.org.uk/post/e163…

Some fundraising ethics updates. I’ve spent a lot of the summer developing new ideas and teaching materials about fundraising ethics. I’ve just finished a new suite of classes for @CIOFtweets' online certificate. The first cohort starts, I think, today.

I’ve also written a review of the field of fundraising ethics, which draws out of the existing literature many more ideas, concepts and theories about fundraising ethics that we had perhaps previously realised we had, including collating all the ideas based on virtue ethics.

Finally, I’m teaching on ethics for @GivaSverige’s fundraising certificate next week. So if I am seeing you next week, make sure you’ve got your thinking caps on.
