I'm going to take a different approach now. In my professional opinion, as a Software and Data Engineer, it is unacceptable and dangerous for the government to require citizens to provide their ID to access social media. The reason for this is the mass scale risk of identity theft and fraud. Requiring companies to ID individuals results in many different databases of EXTREMELY sensitive information. Every database is an additional risk vector being legislated into existence. If a single one is compromised, you have now endangered every single citizen in your country who was forced to provide their ID. As it stands currently, providing ID to sites is optional and requires individuals to weigh this risk against the service provided (often times payments, or KYC compliance [also a risk btw but I digress]). In addition to needing to worry about the increased incentive of 3rd party compromises, ID increases the amount of sensitive information available to individuals at each company. So, the increased risk of a bad actor within ANY SINGLE ONE of the companies is also a danger. Either situation results in: - mass identity theft - mass fake identities - mass fraud (insurance, auto, banking, immigration) - invalidation of every piece of government ID Based on the advancement of technology with adversarial networks, the risk of a leak is inevitable eventually. And this is before any quantum computing hack fears. In conclusion, internet ID legislation is a collective civilizational risk potentially threatening every single citizen who is compelled to submit their ID.
🚨 NEW: Keir Starmer will introduce nightly social media curfews for 16 and 17-year-olds as part of the Government's social media ban [@thetimes]

Uber wait and save being a super scam. Wait 10 minutes so you can wait another 18 minutes? How about no? I chose wait and save because the 10 minutes was fine... NOT 30

I'm just gonna publically cope a bit to feel better here... None of the underlying fundamentals have changed for me. The math still maths. - decentralized network - energy baseline for proof of work - increased adoption across businesses as method of exchange - ability to self custody - asymptotic maximun amount Ya, it hurts seeing things down... but it also hurts knowing what I've missed in the past. It also hurts seeing the stock market down. Maybe I should have just used my money on my own business. Maybe not. I'll find out in a few years.

Bearish? Odds aren't in your favour.
Polymarket gives Bitcoin just a 30.5% chance of dipping to $60,000 in June, a swing that could squeeze crypto holders' wallets and spending power. Grok's top 5 most impactful open markets from the past week: Bitcoin dips to $60,000 in June (30.5%) Spurs beat the Knicks (63.5%) Yankees defeat the Guardians (65.5%) Brewers top the Giants (69.5%) Rays edge the Tigers (56.5%) A dip would shrink portfolios and force hard calls between groceries and rent for those exposed. Stability preserves cash flow but limits bargain entry points. Sports markets stir minor fan spending yet skip direct hits to gas, food or housing. They show prediction markets favoring event odds over tangible wallet pressures like tariffs or rates.

Banger changes. RotMG once again showcasing why they're champions of communication. I can only hope other companies look at this, and go, "hey, maybe our users would be receptive to us being more transparent about what's being done and why" Every update makes me more excited for the future of the game. Really looks like it's in good hands, which is insane to say with some of the games long history.
Realmers, Tomorrow, we’re adding a new in-game Terms of Service pop-up that players will need to accept before entering the game. This is part of our ongoing work to strengthen enforcement against cheating... We’re planning the maintenance for 2 PM CET remaster.realmofthemadgod.co…

How do I get this red/blue button discussion off my timeline now 😂 I'm so over it. I've decided the correct answer depends solely on the framing of the question, and the approach you take to answer it. Eg. Phrasing (blender vs button), Gametheory vs emotions, exclusion of specific people (ie with/without children). And on and on and on. And there's optimal solutions, empathetic solution, and coercive solutions And quite honestly I care less about what button someone presses and more about why they press that button. But most people seem dead set on telling other's they're wrong and changing other peoples mind.

You don't have to push a button. Everyone else must push a button. If you push blue there's a 1% chance you will die. If you push red nothing happens. What button do you want your family and friends to push?
Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

You don't have to push a button, you live either way. Everyone else pushes a button, if less than 50% of people press blue, all people who pressed blue die. Otherwise, nothing happens. What button do you want your family and friends to push?

Why would anyone not press red?! You guarantee your own survival. And as long as everyone presses it then EVERYONE lives. Pressing blue is suicidal by putting your life in the hands of everyone else.
