Started work on the ambient lighting. I'm creating a 3D lightmap that maps lightlevels per block in a chunk. Then I sample them in the shader to figure out how much ambient light influence there should be. Will use floodfill to figure out light level per-block #shaders #voxel

next up is tinting the base color of the blocks by the ambient light color to get proper nights.. after that I think I will attempt to do some basic flood filling to control ambient lighting

Good news, I found the shadow bug! Turns out you can't get the shadowcoord in the vertex function.. I put TransformWorldToShadowCoord(i.vertex_ws); in the fragment shader and it was all good! I'm too much of a shader noob to understand why. Explanations are welcome! #shaders

Implementing shadows for my voxels in Unity URP in my shader has got me scratching my head this morning. Looks like the shadow cascade maps somehow render incorrect? Only selfcast shadows from the voxel mesh seem broken though. Anyone have any ideas? #unity3d #rendering #voxels

Experimenting with some Minecraft style blocks (for fun) but mixing between floodfilled voxel lighting for ambiance and lambert diffused point and directional lights in the shaders. Gives a pretty cool mix. (not working 100% yet) Thoughts? #screenshotsaturday #minecraft #unity3d
