They’re doing it because it works. It worked for them last time and sadly they aren’t held to account for their failure to actually do anything positive once elected.

It’s a flaw in the system if the public aren’t able to discern between the successful electioneerers and actual positive policy agendas that can be progressed.

Interesting to see a row brewing over class sizes in the UK election, but class sizes went up twice under this ESC committee and no-one’s batted an eye. Will the public notice before our 2025 election?

It was inevitable, but it's also, it has to be said, very, very well done. First Downfall video of the campaign. vimeo.com/950085130 #BGE2024

@matt_fallaize is on form in today’s @GuernseyPress . Especially the opposition if ideas being the best all and end all (offering no alternative) and then being rewarded at the ballot box. That dear friends is how we have a states of in action.

If the majority of re-elected deputies have built their success on opposing things &the swathe of new inexperienced deputies take their lead from them. Then they will all try to fill that position of opposition to unpopular without ever having to actually deal with the problem

Just a reminder from a neuropsychologist that when they say “ADHD gets better with age” what they really mean is “Men present less hyper-actively” and forget to say “Women go through a HUGE hormonal transition (ahem menopause) and lose their sh*t and their ADHD feels untenable.” -Dr. Jen

Deputy D-O in the @GuernseyPress saying the 2SM ‘didn’t appear to be coming to fruition’ which is total fabrication. Head teachers had been appointed, they were already half way through transition process, and they’d just received very competitive tenders.>

This mess is direct result of no review and Deputy D-O needs to own that and stop blaming everyone else.

As @djgarydavies just said, your £10 #BBCChildrenInNeed donation can fund a 1-1 support session for children living with Domestic Abuse, and it does that right here in #Guernsey funding one of @SaferLBG’s KIDVA roles.

I’m increasingly concerned that members (particularly new members) of ESC &the states have a very incomplete version of the sordid history of the Education debate. In order to move forward we have to truthfully acknowledge the past, the reason we are stuck is ESC refuse to do so.
Di, it’s mind boggling how uninformed you are about the actual history of the project you are blindly championing. And that you are on the committee responsible for taking it forward is deeply concerning. Watch this and tell me it was ‘just draft stage’ youtu.be/vo_0xBG2YfQ?si=C2zU…

Woke up to tripped kitchen &water dripping from the kitchen light. The 2nd time this has happened since replacing the roof less than 5 years ago. 1 tile on roof cracked but wouldn’t account for the amount of water getting in. The roofer who did the shoddy job is defunct.
