This event will explain the importance of this topic for families with disabled young people and adults with learning disabilities.
The event is delivered in partnership with Irwin Mitchell LLP law firm and will cover the following:
What changes in legal rights and advocacy when your disabled son or daughter with learning disabilities and limited mental capacity turn 18 years
Understanding the Mental Capacity Act and how to support rights and decision making
What is the difference between Lasting Power of Attorney and Deputyship Appointments in England?
What do you need to know to apply for an LPA or Deputyship
How do you prepare for the future to protect the rights and decisions ensuring the ‘Best interest’ of your disabled adult son and daughter.
