ALT My brother always went to the same school as my other two siblings and I. We never thought it was special; it was just our normal! It was shocking to grow up to find out that other provinces still have separate schools and/or classes for kids with disabilities. Segregating children with disabilities from their peers is doing a disservice to everyone involved; children learn from each other, whether they have a disability or not.
ALT So much is at stake when students enter high school. Parents don't always know the consequences of entering Life Skills or Exceptional Programs. They don’t always know this means their child will not obtain any credits for their work. They don’t know that this will create great risk for future unemployment.
