A day after a power outage disrupted Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw’s press conference in Jaipur, the Rajasthan government ordered an inquiry into the incident. The press conference, held at the BJP’s state office, was organised to highlight 12 years of the Narendra Modi government and mark the Prime Minister’s record 4,399 days of continuous service as an elected PM. According to officials, a gas leak in a circuit breaker led to the tripping of two transformers, affecting power supply for nearly 15 minutes. Power was later restored through alternate transformers. Rajasthan Energy Minister Heeralal Nagar said an inquiry committee has been formed and strict action will be taken if any negligence is found. The committee will investigate the cause of the disruption and recommend measures to prevent similar incidents.

Pune will begin an alternate-day water supply from Monday as the city prepares for a possible water shortage amid a delayed monsoon and forecasts of below-normal rainfall. The Pune Municipal Corporation said water consumption must be reduced to ensure existing storage lasts until August. The city’s main water supply dams currently hold around 5 TMC of water, of which only 3 TMC is available for Pune’s use. As part of the restrictions, vehicle washing centres and swimming pools have been directed to shut, while construction sites have been barred from using civic water supply. Authorities have also appealed to residents, housing societies, hotels and restaurants to conserve water and increase the use of recycled water. Officials said the water cut is expected to reduce daily consumption by around 400 MLD and will be implemented area-wise to avoid technical disruptions in supply.
