It’s comical but sad how undemocratic councilors @Carlos__Perkins and @MascariF are. They can’t attend council meetings without cutting off debate. If you wonder why Indy is going in the wrong direction, look at leaders who can’t discuss issues while getting paid to do just that.
x.com/Indy_reporter_/status/… This is why choosing committee chairs matters. Rena Allen chaired the Public Safety & Criminal Justice Committee meeting, and after @CouncilorHart made a statement, Carlos Perkins moved to call the question. Carlos has used this tactic because he can't handle a debate. Everything turns into a mess on procedure and rules before there is finally a vote. Here is the best part. During the mess, Rena Allen gets totally confused on what is being voted on and had to change her vote after Paul Annee clarified of what was being voted on. The looks on @CristaCarlino and @BrienneMarie are PRICELESS Funny how Democrats want to run the Sec of State office, but they can't run a simple committee meeting.

You may have heard that Democrats in Indianapolis want to raise your wheel tax to $100, and they want to blame republicans for it! Keep in mind that democrats have controlled all aspects of city-county government for over a decade. Learn more here: youtu.be/56nhhGhsqCY

I spoke on the Senate floor tonight about 23-year-old Brett Scrogham who was senselessly murdered in downtown Indianapolis last week. He was a bright young man who should still be alive. I’m praying for his family and loved ones.

x.com/Indy_reporter_/status/… Last night at the Public Safety & Criminal Justice Committee, there was a presentation on the audit and what comes next. It appears the Indiana State Board of Accounts is now looking into whether there may have been conflicts of interest tied to the contracts. The biggest takeaway: a lot of this could’ve been avoided with stronger oversight of how the city was spending taxpayer money. Also, it’s pretty funny hearing OPHS Director Merkley call it a “young agency” when the office has existed for nearly 10 years.
This is WILD @IndyOPHS had an audit done 1/1/2020 – 12/31/2024 and was expanded to include specific activities through 12/31/2025. What did they find? MASSIVE problems • 51% of contracts didn’t meet documentation or reporting requirements • No real system to track if programs actually work • Contracts handed to vendors tied to OPHS employees Let's not forget, OPHS has experienced RAPID growth in its operating budget. $19,296,997 in 2020 $33,792,481 in 2026 More mismanagement under the Hogsett Administration Also. Fine job by @CouncilorHart for putting this information in his weekly newsletter. SAUCE: us-east-1-indy.graphassets.c…

Phillip Foust, a Republican candidate for Marion County prosecutor, spoke ahead of tonight’s City-County Council meeting downtown about the push for tougher laws involving teenagers and crime. He described what’s happening in Indianapolis as a crisis involving teen crime.

If you were ever tempted to take Barack Obama’s racial fear-mongering as anything other than manipulation and opportunism, consider this… The Virginia map that Barack Obama was the literal face of diluted black votes across several districts to elect more white Democrats.
Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities - so long as they do it under the guise of “partisanship” rather than explicit “racial bias.” And it serves as just one more example of how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy and protecting the rights of minority groups against majority overreach. The good news is that such setbacks can be overcome. But that will only happen if citizens across the country who cherish our democratic ideals continue to mobilize and vote in record numbers - not just in the upcoming midterms or in high profile races, but in every election and every level.

Something the media never shows you is the ecological harm caused by mass illegal immigration. Southern Arizona is absolutely littered with water bottles, backpacks, shoes, plastic bags, and more. I can only imagine how many animals and livestock died thanks to this garbage

What if we zoned teachers and school leaders into schools based on their address? Would that have support from folks who think we should zone students into schools based on their address? Why not apply the same logic to educators? Educators have choice. So should families.

Blah blah blah… the state road funding formula isn’t fair. We get it. Then the @IndyCouncil should realign its priorities and budget to fund the basics—like roads. One councilor proposed exactly that (Josh Bain). Then every Democrat voted it down. @IndyBain

New Super Bowl ad just dropped reminding women facing unexpected pregnancies that adoption is an option. Rarely do we see an ad like this, especially during the Super Bowl. If one woman sees this & decides not to terminate her baby, then it's worth every penny spent @LiveAction

🔵 HEROES WALK AMONGST US…Grateful for these Indy Street Cops who Stood the Line and Rescued people #FirstOnScene👇

Three IMPD officers, who were first on the scene, are credited with bravely entering the burning building and pulling several people to safety. The three officers were taken to area hospitals and treated for smoke inhalation and minor injuries. They have since been sent home to recover. Thank you to IFD and all of our partners who helped our officers and community members and battled this fire in the frigid temperatures.

Yesterday I testified in support of SB 284, restoring policy authority at IMPD to the Chief of Police—where it belongs. In 2020, Indy Council Democrats stripped this authority to appease their far-left base, which weakened IMPD leadership and department accountability.
