CCMS extends its deepest sympathies and condolences on the sudden passing of Mr Barry Conroy, Principal of St Oliver Plunkett Primary and Nursery Unit, Beragh.
Barry was a highly regarded and deeply dedicated school leader with a lifelong connection to St Oliver Plunkett’s - as a past pupil, a teacher of more than twenty years, and latterly as its Principal.
Barry was wholly committed to Catholic education and to the life of his community, serving his parish with great faith and devotion. He was also a proud son of the GAA, a former player and dedicated coach with the Beragh Red Knights — a club and a community he served with the same generous spirit he brought to everything he did.
Above all, Barry lived out every day the motto at the heart of his beloved school ‘Caring, Sharing and Learning Together’. In all of his years of service from pupil to teacher and then as Principal, this was the way Barry served the school community which he loved so much.
We are reminded of the words shared in the school’s last Friday Note: “We continue to carry our loved ones with us in our hearts and their memory remains always alive within us” — Pope Leo.
Our heartfelt sympathies and prayers are with Barry’s wife, his children, and his wider family circle at this devastating time. We also hold in our thoughts and prayers the entire St Oliver Plunkett’s school community — the children and young people, the staff, the governors, and all in the wider Beragh community who knew and loved him.
