Suicides are increasing, violence more commonly reported & little capacity remains. Challenging times for staff and prisoners lay ahead.
Whilst our justice system is the plaything of politicians, how can we expect our dedicated frontline staff to help the many to succeed?
Sky news reporting "revolving door UK prisons." Short sentences remain ineffective but continue to be used by the courts #anyalternatives?
@JonnieMarbLes @hmp_chaplain I can only speak for my HMP. Large library, stock rotated regularly by library services, weekly access for all
@hmp_chaplain We have many talented staff who really make a difference. It is such a shame the public acknowledgment is often missing.
@hmp_chaplain Indeed. I am an advocate of rehabilitation & other changes we have seen have been far more damaging than this policy alone!
You are quite right @hmp_chaplain. The IEP PSI facility list still allows books to be purchased rather than sent in! #businessasusual
