PRESS RELEASE
Date: 14 June 2026
The Public Action Committee called a long‑march protest on 09 June 2026. Young people from different areas who have come to Rawalakot and are present there are being harassed and intimidated by members of this group. They are spreading rumours and false narratives claiming that “if you try to leave and return to your homes, police will arrest you, open fire, or take strict action against you”. These false claims are also being amplified through social media, media outlets and statements issued by the group.
It has been observed that the banned Public Action Committee is sending out messages to create fear, telling people not to leave or go back, and threatening that anyone who tries will be arrested, injured, or killed — these are baseless, misleading and entirely false propaganda.
In Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and specifically in Rawalakot, the police and administration fully respect the right of all persons who wish to safely return to their native places.
✅ Official Clarification:
Police authorities are facilitating unimpeded return for all those wanting to go home. Dedicated Facilitation Centres / help points have been established, with contact numbers also made available, so that people may coordinate and travel back to their homes freely and without fear.
