Sad that some of the coolest carriages ever built for Vietnam Railways are now just rotting in a siding by Phan Thiet π’ππ»π³
Phan Thiet being a short branch off the mainline Hanoi - HCMC only gets a skelton service with one train pr day Friday - Sunday only ποΈπ

Today I'm onboard Vietnam railways "New" Premium nighttrain. Train SE21/22 connects Da Nang and Saigon daily and a was introduced last year using newly refurbished carriages. I'm on the train for it's full trip in the only 2 person compartment on the entire 11 car train π»π³π

Because the train departs Da Nang early at 8am. (Which is not even the worst part of the timetable for this "night train" as the arrival in Saigon is scheduled for 4am)
I'm already off to the lovely dining car, for some breakfast. My congee was 45000VND about 1.7β¬π½οΈπ

Arrival into Saigon this morning is at 4:13 7 minutes ahead of schedule. This is horrifically early, lots of coffee will be needed today π

Hi @KLM, how long has your website been scamming people? During the booking process, 'Free' seat selection is advertised, but when I reach the payment page, an unexpected charge of 90 DKK (12β¬) is added without explanation. Strangly the charge disappears when no seat is selected

Traveling through the night, from south in Johor Bahru through the central jungle up to Kota Bahru in the north. I've got a upper bunk tonight in one of the 3 sleeping cars ππ - Let's go πͺ

Onboard the ETS Express - The fastest train service between Butterworth and Kuala Lumpur, completing the trip in just 3h35m with just 3 stops, almost an hour quicker than some of the slower ETS services.
I'm in buinsess class, enjoying the complimentary service today π½οΈππ²πΎ

Last Thai train adventure tonight πΉπ
Heading up to Chiang Mai on the 22:30 departure. This one is mostly older seated stock, with 2 class dorm style carriages on the rear, which I'm traveling inπποΈ
This is the train to pick, if you want to see the scenery in the north π΄ππ³

Really fun trip, despite the rocky beds. Token working, single track delay shenanigans and lots of great scenery. I can't wait to get home and edit this trip reportππΉπ.
Despite this being the last trip in Thailand by rail, this trip is far from over ππ²πΎ

Also seems like we might be in for a rough night, as the carriage is vibrating/shaking to the levels of Talgo. Perhaps it's just the track for now, but I'm worried it's bad suspension or a flat wheel ππ€

Back on the Thai rails, after some lovely days on the islands and beaches just off the coast by Trang ππ
Tonight I've got a first class sleeper on the direct night train to Bangkok, which features a older dining car and a very mixed train consist ππΉππ
