The idea that the Republicβs ceremonial guard based their armorβs design off the heroes of their nationβs past is a cool idea imo
03 and 2011 Old Republican Trooper designs is probably the best encapsulation of the historical divide between pre and post clone slopification within the Star Wars franchise imho

I mean the issue here isn't "cool versus not cool" it's that a lot of people seem to think the definition of 'cool uniform' is one that is a full suit of armour.
In Star Wars and plenty of other sci-fi there are cool good guy looks that incorporate cloth and functional garb.
