Had a few queries about the cost of climbing Everest. It varies wildly from low cost operators at €30k to high end operators at €170k - but most people pay between €45k and €70k. Here is an estimate of basic costs via the companies used by 11 Irish climbers this Spring.

Use of helicopters by Irish climbers on Everest & Lhotse this Spring AFTER arriving at Lukla to begin their exped. I count 38 helicopter trips across 14 Irish on both Everest and Lhotse expeditions. Most climbers don't trek out from EBC anymore at the end of the expedition.

Everest summits for 2026 will take a while for officials to compile and verify fully, however best estimates show approx 950 summits this season which is an annual record for Everest. Icefall opened later than ever before but roping to summit completed same as any normal season.

🚨 Summit News: Congrats to Tom Walsh who reached the summit of Everest earlier today to become the 8th Irish to summit Everest this season. Tom was raised in Inverin in Co. Galway, and is now living in Seattle USA. His is the 91st Irish summit of Everest overall.
