The free state is not just the name for a legal entity, but an economically and politically subservient entity that does not uphold the principles of sovereignty 1916 or 1918.
There’s a type of poster who says “Free State” to delegitimise Ireland. Mostly it just advertises their ignorance. The Free State lasted 15 years and ended in 1937. If they’ve had 89 years to learn that and still haven’t, good luck with anything more complicated.

#OTD The First All-Russia Congress of Soviets of Workers’ and Soldiers’ Deputies begins in Petrograd. Of the 822 voting delegates, 285 are SRs, 248 Mensheviks, 105 Bolsheviks, and 32 Menshevik Internationalists. At the congress, Lenin calls for measures against bosses who are locking out tens of thousands of workers in an attempt to weaken the movement and derail the revolution. A strike-wave erupts among the most exploited, mainly unskilled workers.

Half the time the 'dictators' are popular leaders and most of the time the West replaces them with narco cartel Nazi tyrants. Not really sure this is a compelling argument for regime change. Lybia was better under Gadaffi. Fact.
Yeah because ‘Let’s leave all the dictators in power forever’ sounds so much better doesn’t it?

Fantastic publication that showed up some dirty dealings going on behind the scenes in many walks of life. It will be sorely missed. The revolving door of journalism-government is toxic to Irish democratic life.

All socialist countries had borders and controlled who went in and out of them - but because of the organisation of socialist economics, they took more people in and on a more humane and solidarity based basis. International trips to the USSR were all year round and constant. 1/2
I have no problem with people wanting immigration limited and controlled. What I have a problem with is racism, demonising immigrants and blaming them and not the government for the crises we have, especially in housing.

So were educational schools, degree and qualifications, trainings and so on. Socialism is solidarity and helping people build up their own countries on a fair and independent basis - not a brain drain of the most skilled/talented and asset stripping 2/2.

Libya is an open slave camp ruled by warlords thanks to the intervention of NATO. Gadaffi was undoubtedly better in real time/in the real world than the unstable hellhole that Libya has become instead. Hence why communists opposed regime change from day 1.
Ah yeah, Gaddafi - great lad, altogether. Sure, he was an infamous rapist and despised by his own people but he sent a few quid to The Lads up North. Some Irish people are so easily pleased - and so cheaply bought.

The fact that KKK is what is spray painted in areas speaks for itself. "Legitimate concerns", not so much - just racism finding a fertile breeding ground in existing sectarianism and hatred.

A united co-ordinated front against fascism and the far right is needed now more than ever before. But it's not about counter-protests, it is about joining deep organising and consistent and repetitive dialogue to dispel disinformation and neutralise hatred.

A 72 year old man was savaged stabbed to death in his home in Dungannon last year. There was no rampaging gangs "protecting their communities". Guess why? Because the victim was polish and the murderer was a "local" man. These aren't concerned citizens they're racists.

A lot of men up in arms over the attack in North Belfast who have absolutely nothing to say femicide levels in NI, the most deadly place to be a women in the UK and Ireland. Whipping up rage and anger because an immigrant is involved tells you everything about their motives.

All of the hate-filled fascists on this platform trying to engineer a pile on and trying to downplay the fact they're looking to encourage targeting of ethnic minorities and vulnerable refugees/asylum seekers and immigrants through the exploitation of the horrific attack in North Belfast... it's so obvious what they're trying to do. We must not let them succeed.
Horrific footage of a barbaric, evil and horrifying stabbing attack and what appears to be attempted beheading yesterday in North Belfast. Everyone I know in Northern Ireland are not only horrified but also deeply shocked & fearful. I'm also deeply concerned about the backlash. An evil man stabbed and attempted a person multiple times, gouged their eye, and attempted to behead them. We are left asking how this happened and what state our broken system is in, with multiple failings on the part of various agencies, for something this horrific to happen. At the same time, I see that far-right figures are all over this horrific attack. They're sharing images and footage without any consideration for the victims family or the local community. They are whipping up fear, tensions and pure racist hatred against the many vulnerable families, and particularly individual men, who have rightfully & lawfully claimed asylum here in the UK and in Ireland. Northern Ireland has historically been a place where minorities have faced their share of oppression & racism, but also a significant amount of solidarity. But I am extremely concerned, especially given the presence of active paramilitary and vigilante gangs, that those who live in north Belfast will now face the consequences of an evil barbaric man, his horrific actions, and the subsequent far-right reactions. It's also qwhite interesting that a stabbing, a brutal one at that, only catches the attention of figures like Nigel Farage & Tommy Robinson when the perpetrator is a person of colour and allegedly an immigrant/asylum seeker. Nobody ever gives a damn when the perpetrator is a white gang member or a white drug lord.
