Difficulty de-activating. Associated with iasiltwitter@gmail.com (not my email) & set up@in Ireland. Whichever secretary after me manages that email needs to delete or take me out of system. Sorry. I tried. Want to keep my personal active.

Ready to celebrate, with or without glasses. Decided not to wear college shirt. Even put on makeup.

This year even my feet are getting into the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, socks courtesy of gift from my husband for fun. We all need a little levity.

Maybe this one for me:
Show me a picture on your phone that has your energy. Not a selfie.

When we hosted her over 20 years ago, then again a few years later (Concordia College in Minnesota), she was a delight. She remains a favorite of mine as well.
Happy 90th birthday to the iconic Edna O'Brien! A fearless storyteller, she writes boldly & unflinchingly about difficulties faced by women & girls. Thrilled to learn that my @IrishTimes piece on her superb novel Girl is quoted in the paperback & e-book (alongside @IanMcKellen)!

President elect Joe Biden just quoted my favorite hymn. Toasting our elected leaders with Irish Redbreast whiskey, my favorite and a special treat. Let the healing begin.

Today while unpacking boxes from garage, Dennis found this note from a reader of my 1st book. I recall praise from Seamus Deane, F.C. McGrath, John McDonagh & John Harrington. But I had forgotten this note. Years later, nice to recall belief of others in the work of a younger me.

Today Margaret MacCurtain's funeral was celebrated, and I was there by streaming. I particularly appreciated the story of her smuggling the little dog under her coat to see her hospitalized mom, Nancy, and this poem, all shared by her beloved niece, Ann Marie. Margaret is loved.

Our courageous, honest friend. Our champion.
In 1964 a young nun (powerless in church & society) defied the most powerful man in Ireland, the archbishop of Dublin. In 1969 she publicly encouraged & supported the student revolution; her wish being to affect change in Irish society. RIP Margaret Mac Curtain/ Benvenuta #Legend

Since 1998, we had many wonderful times and travels with Margaret MacCurtain. Here is a favorite memory of from Portugal travels. Dennis and I loved spending time with both Margaret and with her best friend, and our dear friend, Maureen Murphy.

I first met Margaret MacCurtain in 1993 when I was living in Trinity graduate student housing in Blackrock. I would see her in the garden as I walking some dog I had borrowed since I missed mine. But it was in 1998 at the IASIL Limerick conference where our deep friendship began.
