Single dad, Andrew was forced to leave his job after being diagnosed with a disability. He received little help from the social security system and had no option but to turn to a food bank. It’s not right that disabled parents like Andrew are having to sit in the cold 💔

Loved speaking @ALLIANCEScot 'Sharing Power' event today, alongside outstanding community activist Zahida who urges: "Recognise there'll always be a power imbalance. Don't bring people in to perform their pain- involve us in the solutions." That's #Participation @PovertyAlliance

As @jrf_uk says ‘A government that came to office pledging to end the moral scar of food bank use should not be taking steps that could leave disabled people at greater risk of needing to use one.’ #CashFirst
Secretary of State for Work and Pensions @leicesterliz's speech today laid out plans to cut disability and sickness benefits by billions. ❌No truly moral choice would leave disabled people without support designed to allow them to lead a dignified life, or facing hardship. 1/4

Without community and voluntary organisations, people in poverty will be cut off from vital support and advice. That's why #FairFunding is high on our list of priorities for #ScotBudget. povertyalliance.org/briefing…

Very concerned about the impact these job losses would have on #Equality, #Inclusion & #HumanRights for disabled people in Scotland. Disabled people's organisations are vital for empowerment, justice & tackling poverty - but they face a constant fight for survival #FairFunding

We've been working with @FairByDesign to support the campaign for Fairer Banking for All - brilliant work from @FBfACampaign and those with direct experience highlighting the impact or financial exclusion, and the solutions!
“My children are quite aware of my finances and how it’s affected me. They’ve seen how happy I was when I got the loan from the credit union. They were able to get a more happier mum when I was able to get more affordable credit.” #FairBankingForAll

We won't end poverty in Scotland without securing justice for disabled people - whose poverty is exacerbated by 📍care charges 📍deeper impacts of food & fuel costs 📍barriers in public services incl. work, education, advice. Share & support #DisabledPeopleDemandJustice
Today @DEScotTweets @GDA__online @InclusionScot & #DPOs across Scotland are joining together for a fortnight of action & campaigning to demand justice & deliver equality for disabled people. #DisabledPeopleDemandJustice from @scotgov @ScotGovFM #ActionNow
