Island life means getting the necessary experience to be able to apply for your dream uni choice isn’t always possible here and requires another week on the mainland, a two hour ferry journey, five hour drive and missing the first week of school but it’s worth it! #VeterinaryMed
The real hospitality-Friday night slightly hung over from one of the best nights winning the #ThistleAwards up at 5am plane at 8am new guests arrive at 8.45am self caterers leaving a night early due to a strom due & the excitement of getting ahead with the Saturday washing load😂
In amongst ferry chaos @islaycountrygal made it to the @roslininstitute today and she absolutely loved it and has @TheDickVet in her sights but tomorrow is @UofGMVLS and the zoology and Huntarian museum thank you to @IslayHigh Mrs M for her determination to make this happen
I’m not going to lie some days hospitality is tough going from epic highs to some lows but having to wear a game face to protect the enjoyment for other guests who are here to enjoy they precious time .. our kids see this first hand and the toll it takes and I am so proud of them
And just for the record we don’t do breakfast at 5.30am nor do we offer one starter between two with no main course and no dessert as a dining option at our bed and breakfast 😇
It was back to school this week for @islaycountrygal and studying hard for 5th year and 5 Highers to achieve her dream of #Veterinarymedicine her escape is either the gym the beach or riding her highland pony Fearg. This was her coming back from her wee trek last night ☀️ 🐎

She’s been on her own during lambing with the family farm for the last few days so I helped her escape to the beach for an hour this afternoon😊
Last day of S4 for our @islaycountrygal
We are so proud of how hard she’s working to get the grades and experience despite island life often making this tricky to make her veterinary medicine dream come true
