Poor little 9-year-old Westie Jay has bad skin allergies so needs a home with owners who can cope with that. Not fond of other dogs, but affectionate & walks nicely on lead. Good clear write-up of his character & needs here ⬇️
Remember adorable little Jay? The bald Westie is looking for a home with an owner who can look past his unusual looks! He's cheeky and sweet and just needs someone to love him #FindEachOther #AdoptDontShop rspca.org.uk/findapet/detail…

Did you need to visit a vet for your dog during the pandemic? Or have you cared for a dog with ongoing health issues during the COVID-19 pandemic? If you live in the UK & answered yes to either of these, @SaraGarstecka would like your help with this survey bit.ly/37k2lQ6

We describe the links between stress-health-behaviour, which are not straightforward as each can influence the other. Stress is highly relevant to dermatitis & skin problems as it’s been shown to break down the skin barrier function. Stress-itch-stress may be a vicious cycle.
Our latest @ItchyDogProject study has been published today. This is the piece I am most proud of 🙂 We show that itchy dogs are more likely to have behaviour problems that may indicate they’re experiencing stress as a result of their itchy skin allergy mdpi.com/2076-2615/9/10/813

🐶 Chocolate Labradors, males & neutered dogs at higher risk of allergies 🐶 Dogs born in rural locations are at lower risk 🐶 Dogs with skin allergies more likely to be allowed on soft furnishings (which have higher dust mite load) - this is something vets recommend against

Important inform for anyone with local hedgehogs 🦔 🚨 mealworms, oats, sunflower seeds/hearts and peanuts can cause crippling bone disease in hedgehogs 🚨 these are often found in bird food, so if you have hogs that visit your garden be careful to keep the bird feed away
Oh gosh please do not let hedgehogs eat bird food! It's VERY HARMFUL for them and will give them Metabolic Bone Disease; an agonising crippling irreversible condition. Please put out only cat food. Tesco's Kitten Complete is excellent nutrition and value. x.com/HedgehogCabin/status/1…
