I don't see anyone arguing that their pronouns are 'table' or 'duck' or whatever, apart from as a joke, no. "Funny how that works" As often is the case, "Crazy how [assumption I make about X] conflicts with [reality I can see about X]" simply means your assumptions are wrong.

...Also, presumably the place he's working has demanded he provide his pronouns, so He/Him would have been his own boilerplate response. He's not going to make up new pronouns, he's just going along with company policy.

The British version of 'Maniac Cop' is 'PC Gone Mad' The Australian version of 'PC Gone Mad' is 'Mad Macs'. [the second one there is a double pun]

I like the tweet genre "It's crazy how [assumption I make about X] conflicts with [reality I can see about X]". Maybe examine your priors.

How are they going to come up with a new James Bond film when the last one ended with Daniel Craig turning into Billie Piper?

I often tweet about old shows or films I've seen, sometimes saying "This struck me as odd about it", and it would feel crazy to do that about a 22yo show and then the star of the show roasts me about it and then everyone on the internet applauds him.

...people tweet half-baked thoughts out into the world, and 95% of the time barely anyone sees it. But when one starts getting shared a lot it feels like it's been elevated into an important message. Then everyone judges like it's an article the author got paid for.

Rupert in Rivals is too old for Taggie. She only just turned 21, he looks like he's in his mid-40s. I don't know why we're meant to want them to be together.

Last month, Americans said "Why are Brits complaining about 90F temps?", Brits replied "It hits different in the UK", and now that's somehow been internalised as "Brits think Liverpool is hotter than Arizona".

At first I thought I enjoyed Death In Paradise despite every episode following a rigid formula. Then I watched one that did something different and I found myself a bit annoyed. Then I realised the formula was actually part of the cosy appeal.

Defending House by saying every procedural is formulaic reminds me how people often try to flatten very specific plots to say things like "Galaxy Quest and A Bug's Life are both basically The Seven Samurai", ignoring all the other very specific things they share with Three Amigos

I used to get riled by Americans using the word soccer, but their arguments for it have convinced me it's petty to object to it given a) Britain invented the term in the first place, and b) There are lots of other games called football, not just America's.

Why on earth would someone set up a bot that politely answers people's stupid questions?

...Whenever I've been accused of being a bot or tweeing 'robotically', it's always been when I've been answering a question and am deliberately writing as clearly and unambiguously as possible.

The phrase "IT'S NOT FREE" is trending in the UK because of all the people replying to this who struggle with the concept of "Free at the point of use", which I'd argue is probably the most used meaning of the word "free" anyway.

Give me your best Harry Potter nitpicks. No reasonable criticisms or analysis, I'm talking real pedantic here. [take Quidditch scoring system as read]

...for me it's weird that Ron and even Hermione often stay with Harry at Hogwarts through one of the school breaks, because their parents are busy. You're not seeing your child at all for several months, then you go on holiday during one of their three only breaks?

You can argue these positions aren't in conflict but I really feel they need to pick a lane.

People often call me 'the very definition of pedantic', but really they mean I'm an exemplar of the term.
