New in JACEP Open: Prevalence of Exposures and Moral Injury in First Responders
In a survey of 292 first responders, exposure to potentially morally injurious events (PMIEs) was common, with 18.4% of those exposed reporting clinically meaningful moral injury. Moral injury symptoms showed strong correlations with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and burnout, underscoring the mental health risks faced by first responders.
