My favorite buys based on early pricing 7. Nick Kurtz OAK Blah, blah, plays 1B, plays for the A’s, blah, blah. Whatever. I get it’s not sexy. But purely as a hitting prospect, there’s a chance he’s the best one in this class. Great pro debut. Great AFL showing. As boring as the hobby landing spot may be, I don’t think there should be 6 guys more expensive. 17. Carson Benge NYM Former 2-way player but will be a hitter full-time. May have a lot of untapped potential at the plate. Mets are a good market. I think he has as much, if not more, hobby upside than James Tibbs III who is selling 7 spots higher because he was a bigger college name. I’d much rather pay less for Benge. 19. Kellon Lindsey LAD Feels unnatural for a prep SS drafted by the Dodgers to be undervalued but here we are. Like his ceiling. Like the organization. Think he has similar upside to Theo Gillen (I have them ranked side by side in this product), but Lindsey is 8 spots cheaper so far. I’d get in on him as a hold. 27. Ryan Waldschmidt ARI Potential for plus power and he can run, great hobby combo. He’s older (22) which explains why the hobby isn’t in love early, but the skills will play. I think there’s at least 5 college bats selling for more than him currently that he has more upside than. 46. Jared Thomas COL Really intriguing. Struck out too much in college but has a good understanding of the zone. Game power a ? but I’m optimistic. He’s young for a college draftee (will be 21 until July of next season). Biggest downside is the Rockies inability to develop. If not for the organization, he’s probably a top 20-25 chase for me. This is still just too cheap for the potential. 52. Carson DeMartini PHI After posting a 1.1 BB/K in 2023, it dropped to 0.6 in 2024 but he was fighting a shoulder injury that required surgery. Theres plenty of pop in the bat. If he’s 100% recovered and the patience returns (pro debut was encouraging), he’s very sneaky. Philly doesn’t have a ton of hobby-relevant Bowman prospects. If he gets hot I could see them paying up.
