The professional narrative around Athletic Trainers is broken. Vitals, temperature checks, wellness checks, vaccinations, telehealth, Covid tests in parking lots, hospitals, schools, offices, industrial parks, manufacturing plants, and homes for 2 years. In addition to their “normal” duties supporting athletes and keeping their sports medicine program functioning. ATs delivered healthcare to almost every patient panel in every sector of the economy during the pandemic. 🫳🎤 There needs to be a bigger megaphone highlighting their education, skill set, life-saving abilities, and being one of the most versatile allied professionals in the healthcare system. Yet the system doesn’t recognize this. The system is run by people who think an AT’s primary patient is Joe Theisman… When in fact, the AT’s primary patient today, is mom, dad, brother, sister, son, daughter, aunt, uncle, etc. ATs deliver healthcare to people. Not just athletes. #everysidelineeverywhere
