I'm trying to be better about self-promoting my work, so here it is. Benregesh is a high-flying action fantasy. Think a light novel on steroids. Over 700 pages, with 30 pages of manga art included as extras. If you're looking for bombastic action, heart-warming romance, and terrifying monsters, then look no further. Seriously, there are some action scenes in this book that will make your jaw drop. Part of how I facilitate that action is through my setting. Benregesh takes place in a distinct, unique world with original races, fantastic locales, and a mind-bending sense of scale. Seriously, you've never read anything like this. At it's core, though, the characters were my favorite part of writing Benregesh. Whether it's Kaleb's scrappy wit, Rael's search for redemption, or Avia's absolute badassery, each character was a joy to flesh out and explore. If you think this sounds interesting, you can check out the book over at amazon.com/dp/B0C7L5R85V If you have a Kindle Unlimited subscription, you can grab the book for free. If you enjoy it, be sure to leave a review.

The beauty of trebuchets is that the object of your ire can be either target or projectile. They're flexible like that.

Okay, so if YouTube is going to insist on showing me crappy ads, I'll at least aggressively tell them which ads to show me. AI-generated anime game-thing? Well, I'm not exactly a fan, but the music kinda slaps so I'll watch the whole way through. JCPenny ads? Block & skip.

Whenever I hear a baby or toddler screaming in public—and I mean, full-throat sending it to the heavens for his ancestors to hear—all I can think is, "Me too, little buddy. Me too."

I’ll never get mad at the baby crying on the plane because I'm a grown adult who can regulate my emotions and put on headphones. Also, I'm not a hateful loser.

I. AM. A. PROPHET! 😅 Always disappointing to get a regret, but flipside, I knew this story wasn't at the level of quality I wanted it to be. In any case, anyone know where a guy can submit a short story about a group of battle mages fighting a gundam in Fantasy not-Iraq?
Last night I dreamed that my story got rejected for Wyrd Warfare 3. So yeah. Not anxious at all about this one. Was it just a bad dream, or a prophecy? We'll be finding out soon...

What's funny is that you can absolutely check in a firearm at the airport in the US. So whether it's a sandwich or an AR-15, you're fine to keep your piece.
Introducing the Scottish-American travel dictionary 🇺🇸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 We’ve put together this guide to keep the Tartan Army out of trouble in the States. Read carefully to avoid confusing the locals, deeply offending the country, or being interrogated by Homeland Security over a sandwich.

I take it a step further by (very occasionally) making up words that the reader should be able to figure out from context. Or using words that should exist but don't. Don't ask me to list any. I'm too illiterate to remember them.
Writer friends, it's ok to encourage literacy in your audience by using big words.

Okay. Kojima's in on the joke. That's sweet.

In light of my recent appearance doing a podcast episode on magic systems...
Was reminded of this post from a couple years back. Still feels accurate.

You don't gotta call me out like this Mike.
Loadout Tip: don’t worry about incorporating a radio into your tactical/SHTF/bugout setup; it won’t do you any good. Not because comms aren’t important, but because you don’t have any friends. Who would you talk to anyway? Subscribe for more solid tactical advice.

In under an hour, I’ll be joining the folks over at Carbines and Cantrips to try building a magic system live on-air. This will either go terribly, or it will go wonderfully. Either way, it’ll be a spectacle!

"It's 6:30 in the morning. Why on earth are there people at Walmart?" I ask as I pull into the Walmart parking lot at 6:30 AM...

At the very least, there is a sort of condescension in the way someone writes when they believe that there is nothing out there that we can't measure, quantify, or (ultimately) control.
If a fantasy writer does not believe in fairies, it shows.

For the DMZ trailer, they can't decide if they want the characters to sound like fake operators or players. Either way, it sounds unintentionally hilarious.

Is it just me, or does every game set in the late-1800s/early 1900s have the same art style? They have three different games in that era for the XBOX games show, and they all look the same.

A new Spyro game?!!! This could either be amazing or terrible, and there will be no in-between. I happen to remember the years of slop that followed the original Spyro trilogy.

"Nobody believed me when I said the new Belmont would be a girl." Obviously they haven't been paying attention to modern gaming trends...
