I enjoyed teaming up with @JCSUniversity student journalist Jaslynn Vorachith on this deep dive. Irwin Creek is under our noses, yet hardly recognized for its role in Charlotte's ecosystem.
Irwin Creek quenched Charlotteβs thirst.
Its teeming springs nourished Black communities with fish and wildlife. It was the site of swim lessons and church baptisms. Irwin also paid a price for Charlotteβs growth. Today, a transformation is underway.
