ALT The JCUA union, represented by SEIU73, is made up of eight staff members. Though we do not speak for the organization, we feel called to raise our collective voice in support of the proposed ceasefire resolution in City Council. The values that guide our daily work in the Chicago Jewish community compel us to demand a ceasefire now. We know all life is precious, and pray for the safe return of all Israeli and Palestinian hostages. We know that all people deserve safety, freedom, and communities where they can thrive. The Israeli military’s ongoing campaign in Gaza is denying Palestinians those rights, systematically destroying the basic requirements of life: housing, education, houses of worship, healthcare infrastructure, even drinkable water. Every single day without a ceasefire costs hundreds of lives. Our tax dollars are funding a genocide. We call on our aldermen to recognize the urgency of this moment and pass the ceasefire resolution now.
