The Super Bowl has to be the breaking point. There is not enough cognitive dissonance in the world to maintain harsh restrictions on children after last night. It’s time to take a stand. No more mask mandates, no more outdoor lunch.  Back to 100% normal for our kids!

Short thread: Concerned public-school parent and @UCBerkeley Ph.D. in poli sci here. We should all support approaches driven by sound data science. So it's a big problem that the evidence @AmerAcadPeds' uses to recommend absolute indoor masking (fn 4) is a @cdc study 1/2
We’ve learned during the pandemic that going to school in-person is how children learn best. @healthychildren shares ways to keep students as safe as possible in schools, including vaccinations, universal masking, physical distancing and testing access. ow.ly/YPzX50HGGBV

Excited to see this article published online. I enjoyed the opportunity to collaborate with two talented coauthors: state and local fiscal performance scholar @katelangyang and labor economist @lauraeconnolly_ (who is also my sister).

When the World Health Organization and UNICEF said not to mask kids under 6, the CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics said... we will do it anyway. Apparently, we prefer to fire up a culture war with no credible data, and harm toddlers in the process tabletmag.com/sections/scien…

Across the Jackson Health System hospitals, we currently have 327 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19. Of those, 187 patients – or 57 percent – are admitted to the hospital primarily for non-COVID reasons.

We find the public prefers local govts spray insecticides and fine for standing water. Republicans are significantly more likely than Democrats to support state level policy action on Zika, but partisanship has no impact on public preferences for federal or local policy action.
My article w/ @UMCAS colleagues @klofstad, @JoeUscinski, and Jon West is now available online @JPublicPolicy. Travel warnings, education, and research funding are the most popular policies to address Zika, and the federal govt is the most popular actor. bit.ly/2BTfYWH
