The sirens heard in St. Louis this afternoon were, “…an automatic, accidental activation” according to a phone call with @STLFireDept HQ.

Immediately after the sirens ended, a representative from @CityEMA said they were looking into the reason for the siren, the Fire Department was in charge of siren activation, and there was NO tornado warning at the time

All of this after @STLFireDept said that the regular 11am siren test was cancelled (in a tweet marked as “Made with AI”) hours before the sirens sounded. So far, there’s been no social media updates from STLFD or @CityEMA since the sirens activated.
Due to forecasted weather conditions, today’s scheduled monthly outdoor warning siren test has been canceled.

705 new dumpsters were delivered by our Maintenance Section crews between May 16 and June 16.
Some were replacements for dumpsters damaged by the tornado. Despite challenges due to debris and downed trees, they managed to clear 90.5% of requests within this 31-day period.
