Fantastic long term data for HDR boost. Very interesting to see lower side effect profile for TRUS based over CT based planning. More confidence in contouring or greater certainty in needle positioning at time of treatment? @agomeziturriaga@KamravaMD
This type of work is helping inform the development of larger international collaborative initiatives under ENCOMPASS, focused on outcomes, workflows, imaging, dosimetry, and quality assurance in prostate brachytherapy.
I do wonder for these IR patients getting brachytherapy that LDR is a better option. Our institutional BCR are lower than what’s been reported. Of course this is also single site - our ENCOMPASS consortium is working on a prospective registry to collect this data internationally
Congratulations @cristian_udo and co-authors on putting this together.
Hard to take too much away given the differences in how toxicity was collected amongst SBRT studies and only 1 brachytherapy trial included from single site.
We need more data before making conclusions
Don't miss our special session on genitourinary cancers at #TROG2026ASM next month. Researchers including @weeloonong & @JPoderMedPhys will give updates on innovative new research into radiotherapy for prostate & bladder cancers.

Key diff in my mind is that in E2E testing we can identify a point on MRI, register to CT and than use IGRT to find point with 3D error < 1 mm.
However, could we do that with an RO contoured volume in a patient dataset … prob not.
Does it seem to matter? …Also prob not
