I think one of the coolest parts of programming languages and tooling is seeing how ideas from one ecosystem can inspire another.
When I met
@evanyou in 2023, we talked about the future of JS tooling. Vite.js had grown a lot because it was fast and framework-agnorstic. Evan was thinking a lot about how to make tools that were super fast and easy to to use.
It reminded me of a chat a year earlier with
@charliermarsh, who’d been inspired by Rust’s Cargo while exploring how to speed up Python development. ruff and uv showed what was possible with a more integrated toolchain.
Evan and Charlie were thinking about similar things in different languages, and it all made sense. We led the seed for VoidZero.
Since then, the
@voidzerodev team has been on a tear w/ Vite, building Rolldown, oxc, and vitest, and launching their first product, Vite . Insane speed.
We’re thrilled to lead their Series A!
