The next generation big man for Maryville is starting to arrive in a serious way. Tyler Sigmund (@TylerSigmund23) put together a breakout showing at Phenom Rock Hill Live that gave everyone in the building a glimpse of the work happening behind the scenes and just how dangerous his ceiling can become moving forward. Tyler continues to evolve into a dynamic, modern wing/forward who impacts the game in multiple ways without needing the offense forced through him. He averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds per game during the live period while consistently making winning plays all over the floor. Whether it was gobbling up boards, finishing through contact, scoring within the flow of the offense, or bringing relentless energy possession after possession, Tyler’s fingerprints were all over games. What makes his game so impactful is the versatility attached to his size and motor. He moves fluidly, runs the floor well, rebounds at a high level, and understands how to find scoring opportunities naturally instead of forcing bad shots. Tyler has a strong feel for the game and knows how to let the action come to him while still remaining aggressive and impactful. That combination makes him extremely difficult to deal with because he can hurt teams in so many different ways. His rebounding especially stood out throughout the event. Tyler has a knack for gobbling up boards in traffic, extending possessions, and creating momentum-changing plays with effort and timing. Add in his athleticism and willingness to do the dirty work, and suddenly you have a player capable of shifting the energy of an entire game without needing to dominate the basketball. The offensive side continues expanding as well. Tyler showed touch around the basket, confidence attacking openings, and the ability to finish plays while staying under control. He looked comfortable playing inside or facing up from the wing area, giving flashes of a player whose offensive game is continuing to grow rapidly. The scary part is his best basketball is still ahead of him as his body, confidence, and overall skill set continue developing. It looked like the result of countless hours of work finally beginning to surface under the bright lights of live period basketball. Tyler played with confidence, purpose, and energy that showed a young athlete beginning to understand just how impactful he can become. Driven, athletic, versatile, relentless on the boards, and dangerous within the flow of the offense, Tyler is quietly turning himself into one of the young rising forwards to keep tracking in Tennessee basketball, and if this breakout performance was any indication, there may be a lot more noise coming very soon.
