Hate to see this happen. Always look at the books and if possible, prior year tax returns.

Dave Ramsey tells a couple to hand back the keys after they paid $500K for the appliance repair shop where her husband worked for 20 years Caller: "My husband fixed appliances at this company for 20 years, so we trusted the owner and paid $500K to buy it before finding out it barely makes any profit" Dave: "HOLY MOLY. You paid $500,000 for a business that doesn’t make a profit. That’s why he’s fixing dishwashers. Yeah, you got screwed" "Call the former owner and tell him to come get it. Come pick up the keys buddy, I’m done. Screw this, you got hammered"

I’m convinced the more I see an accountant talk about a secret of the wealthy type post, the less I assume they actually know about tax and accounting

torontolife.com/culture/russ… Next time a tax influencer tells you to trust their strategy, make sure they can back it up. Russell Peters is suing his Canadian accountants (non influencers) for not being able to substantiate their tax position. Be careful out there

New Prospect - "I think my last CPA missed deductions and want you to review my last return." Taxable income was $7,000 and had <$800 tax liability. Don't know what exactly he missed.

Sometimes an s corp, PTET, accountable plan, and a retirement account is all some clients need to help them cut their tax bill. While there are other things they can do, most people only handle 3 to 4 at a time

Gotta love when a clients leaves a negative review after being freed to seek better opportunities. I guess said client forgot to mention, they no-showed to multiple client zooms, ignored dozens of document requests and promised to send documents tomorrow for almost 9 months

This is a new one. Client owns an S Corp 100%. Going for a loan. Underwriter is asking for client's dad to be made a 95% owner of the s corp because the dad has great credit. I guess guaranteeing the loan is out of the question. #taxtwitter

It's funny how taxpayers can call a cpa firm on April 14th and expect us to file an extension for them for free when they aren't a client. I don't think that same person would show up 5 minutes before a restaurant closes and expect service #TaxTwitter

Out of the ten tax projections we did this year, 9 were within $1,000 of their tax liability this year. Why don’t more cpa firms offer this?

Great sports lesson I learned from a coach. You either coach it or you allow it. Thanks @TheRealCoach_JB for that. Big fan of yours. We as CPA's are responsible for allowing headache clients through our doors to disrupt our workflow #TaxTwitter

There is no such thing as a free tax deduction. All tax deductions require money to be spent, time and effort. If your friend makes it seem like deductions fall from the sky, just ignore them.

You can pay your children to work in your business, but not $14,599. Between 1,260 hours of school, little league, video games, and sleeping, it's hard to see your child grinding out $14,599 of work. #taxtwitter

As a rule of thumb, the more mental gymnastics you need to do to rationalize a tax deduction, the less likely it’s a legitimate deduction
