I see we’re at the portion of the year where the Bucs booth has to act like Jack Perkins is actually good because the Bucs can’t hit all of the sudden.

That play is such a microcosm of how the Pirates are playing right now

Fans might not want to confess this. But it’s 100% viable to be concerned with Skenes. If any other starter FB dropped a solid mph at age 24 it’d raise eyebrows

Getting a W versus LAD without Cruz and Griffin is solid.

It really looks like he beat the tag but at the same time the call was out and there was absolutely no actual video of his foot hitting the bag. I wonder if NY had a different view?

What I wouldn’t give to have a manager that would refuse to put Ozuna in his starting lineup

This.
Replying to @Nomadhidinghere
Players should view themselves as stakeholders in this -- not just employees. They benefit from adopting a better model for growth. MLB top-line revenue growth is badly lagging the other Big Four sports.

The owner literally had to sell the team because he could make the numbers work.
MLBPA interim exec director Bruce Meyer holds up the Padres as the example for all teams: "We want to encourage more San Diego's. San Diego is a small market team that went out, decided to compete, signed a lot of players. Turned around their franchise...they are successful. They've grown attendance, they've grown interest, and we've all seen the explosion of their franchise value."

I just lost all respect for @EvanDrellich as this is the stupidest shit I will read today.
It's important to understand that the 50/50 revenue split with players doesn't incorporate franchise values, says @EvanDrellich. "It's 50/50 in the operating annual balance sheet of a team."

It’s super early in the talks. But I never thought I’d see the day where fans sided with the owners. But here we are.
Statement from MLB spokesperson Glen Caplin following the union's opening proposal: "We understand their proposals are designed to benefit players. Unfortunately, they do not address and in fact exacerbate the competitive balance problem our fans are telling us we must address."

The last work stoppage the fans were with the players the players will not have that this stoppage. Not with stupidity like this. The MLBPA has an uncanny knack of being super dumb.
The MLBPA's response, in part, to today's proposal: "The owners responded today with a demand for a salary cap system, something generations of players have fought against. The last time the owners made such an explicit push for a cap—over 30 years ago—it led to the longest work stoppage in MLB history. For generations, our members have fought against cap systems because they harm players at all levels, erode or eliminate contractual guarantees, pit player against player, lead to more work stoppages, not less, and get worse for players over time. Caps don’t lower ticket prices for fans, eliminate tanking or ensure teams are run with equal competence. They suffocate competition by offering owners an all-purpose excuse for inaction and mediocrity."

This is a huge step in the right direction. MLBPA would de well go look at how much of a % this is of total MLB profit. See how much of a bump they can get. But I’m a little surprised by this offer
MLB proposes the first salary cap since August, 1994, at $245.3 million, with a salary floor of $171.2 million.
